Uncertainty, Anxiety and Modern Society

Have you noticed that as society and AI continue to develop, there seems to be less room to be and feel uncertainty? We search for stability, consistency, and predictability, almost expecting it as a guarantee. With tools like Google Maps guiding us through even short walks, we rarely find ourselves lost anymore. Life becomes more structured and less spontaneous.

This predictability and lack of spontaneity diminishes our tolerance for the unknown. We start associating normal uncertainties with anxiety, simply because we encounter those situations less frequently. Anxiety feels foreign. However, dealing with uncertainty isn't necessarily negative, nor should it automatically trigger anxiety or discomfort. Instead, it's a fundamental part of the natural order.

At our core, humans are wired to confront unknown situations, learn from them, and adapt accordingly. Existential philosophers and stoics alike recognize that the only certainties in life are birth and death; everything else remains uncertain. Despite our efforts to neatly compartmentalize life, we can’t be sure of anything else..

So why is uncertainty essential?

It fosters curiosity and drives exploration. When we encounter uncertainty, it prompts us to seek answers, investigate further, and expand our understanding of the world around us.

Innovation thrives on uncertainty. When faced with unknowns, we are motivated to think outside the box, experiment with new ideas, and develop new solutions to challenges.

Living with uncertainty cultivates flexibility and a willingness to live life as it unfolds. The less expectations we have now, the less disappointment to come. Uncertainty promotes resilience and adaptability. In an ever-changing environment, being comfortable with uncertainty allows us to adjust our strategies and approaches as new information emerges.

Uncertainty also encourages humility and open-mindedness. Recognizing the limitations of our knowledge prompts us to consider differing perspectives and be receptive to new insights.

Fear of uncertainty breeds anxiety, yet it's an inherent aspect of the human condition. In an age dominated by AI and predictive technologies aimed at minimizing uncertainty, we inadvertently fuel widespread anxiety by attempting to evade the unavoidable uncertainties of life.

Are you interested in working on your personal development? Are you looking for a life coach or a life consultant? Are you feeling stagnant? Do you want to jumpstart change?

My transformational approach is a process where awareness, alignment, and action work together as catalysts to create momentum for change.

*Awareness is knowing what you genuinely want and need.

*Alignment is the symmetry between our values and our actions. It means our inner and outer worlds match.

*Action is when you are conscious that what you say, do and think are in harmony with your values.

Together we build an understanding of what you want to accomplish, and delve deeply into building awareness around any thoughts and assumptions that you may already have. To truly transform your life, I will empower you to rethink what’s possible for you.
